The Parson

chauce1.gif

The Parson

The only truly religious person on the pilgrimage.

The only one to gain anything from going to the shrine.

Vows to tell a story without poetry or happy endings.

His story is free from amusement.

His tale is tedious and soleman.

Reflects the irony of the Pardoner.

His tale is the longest but least important.

The Parson's Tale

The tale is divided into three parts.

The first part: contrition, confession and penance.

The second part expands on confession, the differences between mortal and venial sin and the struggle between body and soul.

The third part speaks of the seven deadly sins
 1.Pride
2.Envy
 3.Sloth
 4.Anger
5.Lust
    6.Gluttony
  7. Greed
