He was born in London in 1340
He could speak and write in Latin, French, English
and Italian.
He was influenced by Italian authors while he was
stationed there.
He is known as the "great translatuer" and as the
"noble philosophical poet".
He began working on Canterbury Tales in 1391.
He died October 25, 1400.
He left the tales unfinished.
He is burried in Westminister Abbey's Poets' Corner
